Who/what is the National Lottery Commission?

The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) was established in terms of the Lotteries Amendment Act (No 32 of 2013) to regulate the National Lottery as well as other lotteries, including society lotteries to raise funds for NPCs and NPO’s; and promotional competitions. The NLC ensures public interest is safe and secure.

Who can enter a competition?

A South African citizen residing within the borders of South Africa and are over 18 years of age. Please see terms and conditions under each competition.

How will I know if I won?

You will be informed via the contact method selected upon registering for a competition. This will be via email, SMS, WhatsApp, and/or a phone call.

How do I collect my prize?

You will be required to attend a prize giving ceremony. Alternatively, detailed communication of collection of prize will be emailed.

What is an NPC?

For your civil society organisation to be recognised as a legal entity, you must register it as a non-profit company (NPC) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). NPCs are entities that are set up to help people, protect the environment, or lobby for some good cause.

What is an NPO?

A non-profit organisation, as the name suggests, is a legal organisation whose primary purpose is to promote public good rather than making a profit. These are founded by a group of people who come together for a common purpose, i.e., to provide service to members and people.
